I once appeared in a toothpaste commercial.
This probably triggered my obsession with having perfectly white teeth. I always go to the extreme in keeping my smile bright and healthy.
This brings us to my current predicament.
You know how stubborn I can be at times?
Here’s the perfect example.
I bought this really expensive whitening toothpaste. When I started using it, I noticed I began having mouth sores and blisters around my lips. I let it pass. I thought they would simply go away.
Weeks went by and my mouth sores worsen. Plus, the blisters around my lips grew like mushrooms. To cover it up, I stopped shaving. After all, my face was my saving grace.
I told my family about the toothpaste and they were all in agreement I should stop using it. I refused to do so.
They said the formulation was probably too strong. That probably explained the mouth sores. The toothpaste cost a fortune and I couldn’t just throw it away. Mom said I was nuts.
I know buying a new one is fast and easy. But I don’t think that way. I am more into the fact I already bought one and I will continue to use it, until my teeth start to fall apart.
Blame the stars. I'm a Taurus.

Alam mo kung ano nag-cause nyan ng mouth sores or kung tawagin dito sa america eh Canker Sores sabi sa mga nabasa ko na yung mga toothpaste and mouthwash that contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) dahil sa drying effect ng SLS yun ang nagpapalala nito lalo na yan may mga whitening etc.. Kaya pag bumili ka ng toothpaste hanapin mo yung SLS free. At syempre pa ang stress kasama na rin sa isang cause nyan..Yun lang po =)

Give up the damn toothpaste! Its not worth having a sore mouth...hehehe parehas pala tayong Taurus, stubborn talaga yan...

Nix the darn toothpaste and listen to reason, if for once. Please. Not worth it at all having craters in your mouth. Unless deep down you enjoy the sight and the pain.
Use Crest White Strips instead. I heard it's effective. If not, Listerine or Crest whitening rinse,(the latter used twice a day max and you gargle for a minute before brushing your teeth; whitens teeth about a shade or two; results take weeks but at least your mouth feels fresh even before brushing).
Eeeew!!! Tigilan na kasi!!! Mag Happy ka na lang... hehehe!

I can relate. I am allergic to mint flavored toothpaste. It causes the skin below my mouth to turn itchy and dark. Problem is, I love tasting mint in my toothpaste. I'm also convinced that it cleans my teeth more than any other flavored - or non-flavored - toothpaste out there. I've been advised to switch to happee too (or any milder tasting toothpaste for that matter, but the thought of getting teeth cavities disgusts me more than my pesky skin allergy. To each his own, I guess. Now I'm still stuck with good old Closeup and Colgate refreshing mint-flavored toothpaste.

Is it better to be the guy with freakishly white teeth and gross mouth sores (which is a sign of an STD) or an average guy with the claim to fame of once being the Colgate spokesman with whiter-than-normal, but still within the realm of reality teeth?

Sheesh. Hala sige. Cut open the tube so you'll get your money's worth and wipe it clean till there isn't a trace left of that precious gunk to brush your teeth with.
On a slightly different note,teeth color and/or formation is a cultural and social thing. My guy friend who happens to be French said his dentist wouldn't see anything wrong with yellowish or somewhat wonky teeth as long as they are clean,cavity-free and not a source of discomfort to his patients. However, Americans and Filipinos(by influence), whether or not they have the means, would most likely want to go further for a fix : straight pearly gleaming whites if possible, is what's considered not only healthy-looking but also beautiful and youthful. With the onslaught of advertising campaigns for whitening kits, toothpastes,rinses strips, and orthodontic accoutrements recommended by dentists, the quest for the ideal teeth has become a trend that's spreading across cultures to the point of obsession. Case in point: Japan's cultural aesthetic sense of teeth color dating back to the ancient times, has changed from black to white. What's more, teeth are not only restored to their natural color but are made even whiter. So like it or not, with media's strong and powerful backing, the tooth fairies weave their latest and brightest brand of magic and are out there to influence everyone including the most hardened stereotyped Brit with the most rotten, gnarly and yellowed teeth.
