Can't, Won't, Don't Stop

One early Thursday morning, Raft3r was in a hurry to get to work.

As fate would have it, I was stuck in traffic. Darn it.

When trying to switch lanes, Raft3r finally noticed the cause of traffic. It was an old disabled man sitting in the middle of a major thoroughfare.

Apparently, he could not stand up. He appeared to be in pain.

Vehicles maneuvered around him and tried not to hit the old guy.

Raft3r wanted to get out of the car and help the man cross the street. After all, it was the noble thing to do. But I was also late for work. Boss wouldn’t approve of that.

In the end, selfish motives prevailed.

I live in Far-view and I pass by Commonwealth avenue (the highway of death) on my way to work everyday. One day I saw a guy sitting by the sidewalk, pools of blood dripping from a busted knee cap. I'm guessing he either fell from a bus while dislodging or got hit by a car while crossing the mile-wide highway. He can't move and was so dazed he just sat there. And just like everybody else, I was rushing for work so I didn't do anything. I felt like the biggest wuss after that.

judayski, Wala. Leave ka agad ang solution pag late. Hehe

That's okay, I'm pretty sure I'll be burning in hell too. :-)

so sad, we are all victims of this self centered world we are living, the values that we learned from school are so much difficult to apply in the real world

Along Roxas Blvd ba yan Raft? Pahirapan talagang tumawid. Wawa naman si Tatang.

I pity the old man! Wala bang MMDA officer to help him?

I was late for work today for two hours because of the terrible traffic at NLEX (Malinta-Balintawak)! The worse part, I was standing in a crowded bus wearing high-heeled shoes! Argh!

kengkay, Hirap talaga. Sala sa init, sala sa lamig. Hehe

Raft, Roxas din ang way ko every morning and I think mas late akong pumasok sa 'yo. Wala naman akong nakita na matandang nakaupo sa gitna ng daan so I guess nakaalis naman sya agad after the incident. Don't feel so guilty.

Raft3r said...

oh how sad! poor Lolo. You shouldn't feel too bad, because it wasn't like YOU were the only one who saw him or went around him, you know? What about all the other people? How come none of THEM stopped to help him, di ba? But apparently, someone did stop to help...

Raft3r said...

laieesha, The police probably did.

:( Kawawa naman si lolo.

Raft3r said...

Hehe

Denoy, would you be fired immediately for being late that day, or even absent? Peace, my dear! Just asking :) See you soon.

Tsk...tsk...Raft3r! Akala ko pa naman super gentleman ka! =D Kidding aside, I know you are. But then, what can you do? In this world, it is almost always me, myself and I. We beat ourselves for not doing what we should have. Just charge it to the many things of coulda-woulda-shoulda and pray that the dear lolo is safe now!

Raft3r said...

jella, You don't know my boss. Hehe

bernadette anne, Tama ka. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Hehe
