Keeper Of The Flame

The Beijing Olympics is upon us and the Chinese sure knows how to throw a party.

Since Raft3r’s training class is like a Benetton ad campaign, everyone is rooting for their respective countries.

An online buddy is currently in Beijing for the games. Lucky kid. All I have is a Beijing Olympics jacket from Old Navy.

Raft3r is looking forward to the tennis finals between Nadal and Gonzalez. I wanted to see Blake play. He deserved it.

Too bad Roddick ain’t playing in Beijing. His decision to pull out of the Olympics hasn’t reaped the expected rewards. He suffered another loss this time at the quarterfinals in Washington.

Sharapova is out with an injury, too. I read somewhere that athletes now prefer magnetic therapy to help them soothe their booboos.

Magnetic field therapy is one of the fast growing alternative forms of medicine.

It has also been alleged that magnet therapy helps improve athletic performance. This is good news for tennis players who have lost their mojos. Paging A-Rod.

Magnetic therapy products range from energy wafers to weight control.

Despite being in the internet age, sometimes going back to the basics can be the sweetest deal.

I think that's what they call holistic approach. We experienced this type of alternative medicine several years back when we had the chance of getting acquainted with this Korean family man. He was like a known healer and somewhat like a wise guy. He was even friends with one ambassador because of what he practised.
He treated aches and pains by taping small round magnets on our fingers to balance the energy in our bodies. He treated acne, too so one day he sought to cure my pimply face. I think he took pity on my pretty visage which he said was [spewing]like a volcano, so the zits were harder to control. So that kinda challenged him, I guess. But a few days later, I found out I was having a serious case of the chicken pox.Had to be confined at the infectious diseases quarantine section of the hospital. When the emergency doctor saw me with my sticky magnetic fingers, I didn't get any mocking reaction at all. No lecture, no rolling of the eyes, no scoffing. He somehow understood then just stuck a needle on my butt cheek.

The Korean sage did acupuncture, too.(I would have tried it if I had been sure if the needles were used for me and me alone). He didn't charge his patients for the sessions but they could donate money if they wanted to. But anyway, at one point during a conversation, he made an amusing remark about female patients being harder to treat because they absorb more energy. I should have asked him to explain further but all I had in my thought bubble was some woman sucking the life out of him.

Aren't you glad you're in Baltimore around this time? You have a chance to see Phelps live when he returns to his hometown.

I'm glad he won all eight gold and made history. I really followed his final competitions.

But like most girls, Ryan Lochte also got my attention.

anonymous, I know how that feels. I had chicken pox, too.

anonymous, Yeah. Girls are crazy about him. Too bad I will be in CA when Phelps head back to Baltimore.
